The Timiș County is one of the founding members of the Network of the Three Seas Regions.
Timiş County owns 3.65% of Romania’s territory with a total area of 8,696.7 km², occupying the first place in the country in terms of extent.
It is bordered to the West by the county of Csongrad – Hungary and to the South-West by the province of Vojevodina – Serbia, the connection between the two counties being provided by the border crossing points at Cenad, respectively those at Stamora Moravița and Jimbolia. The Romanian counties neighboring Timiș County are Arad to the North, Hunedoara to the East and Caraș-Severin to the Southeast. The extreme points of the county are between coordinates 20°16′ (Beba Veche) and 22°33′ (Poieni) east longitude, 45°11′ (Lățunaş) and 46°11′ (Cenad) north latitude.
Timiş County Council – The County Council is the authority of the local public administration, established at the county level, to coordinate the activity of the communal and city councils, in order to provide public services of county interest. The Timiş County Council adopts strategies, forecasts and programs for economic and social development of the county, administers the public and private domains, decides on the establishment of public institutions and public services of county interest, approves the construction, maintenance and modernization of roads, bridges, as well as the entire infrastructure belonging to the communication routes of county interest.
In Timiș County in October 2022, there were 44 registrations of companies with foreign participation in the share capital. The value of the subscribed social capital is approximately 330,165 thousand euros, representing approximately 8.11% of the total subscribed social capital in Romania, placing Timișu in 2nd place after Bucharest.
Regarding the economy of the county, the most important sector represented at the local level is the auto components industry, supported by large companies, including: Continental Automotive Products, Continental Automotive Romania, ContiTech and Engineering (all from the Continental AG group), Delphi Packard Romania, Hella Romania, Mahle.
The export of Timiș County in the first 4 months of 2022 was approximately 2.63 billion euros , being among the few counties in the country with a positive trade balance . Timiș County is also the largest importer of consumer goods, after Bucharest, and is in a permanent territorial development. It presents a huge potential for economic development due to its location on the western border.
Being research-oriented, Timiș County has managed to attract companies that have developed research and innovation capacity in the field of advanced technologies, such as artificial intelligence, robotics and telecommunications .
CJ Timiș established the Strategy and Economic Advisory Council , an advisory mechanism, in order to form opinions, base and elaborate coordinated strategies for an intelligent and sustainable economic development of the county, attract new investors, develop entrepreneurship and support actions of common interest with positive impact on the inhabitants of Timiș County. CSCE aims to create a coherent basis of communication between public decision-makers, the business environment and the academic environment. Also, projects specific to the European Green Pact, the Just Transition Fund, NextGenerationEU or various operational programs will be able to find an articulated collaboration at the level of the main stakeholders (interested parties) at the county level. Thus, the parties decide to create and develop the partnership framework that is the basis of a sustainable and effective cooperation at the level of Timiș County on multiple levels of interest.
